What Is To Be Done During The Last 10 Days?

8. I’tikaf

It was one of the major Sunnahs of the Prophet. For men I’tikaf should be in the mosque but for women at home generally where they pray. If it is not possible to remain in I’tikaf for all 10 days than at least for 3 days. Duration of I’tikaf is a minimum of 3 consecutive days.

When the Prophet (SAW) observed I’tikaf, He (SAW) did not enter the house except to relieve himself. (Muslim).

7. Read Quran

Since it is the month of the Quran, spend as much time as possible reading and pondering over the meaning. Since rewards are multiplied in this month it is the best time to strengthen your connection with the Quran, not just for Ramadan but this month is a good time to start. Here are 10 Tips To Complete Recitation Of The Quran in Ramadan.

The month of Ramadan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion… 2:185

6. Focus on your fardh prayers

Ramadan is the month where most people try to focus as much as on voluntary worship than the fardh (obligatory). Standing all night in prayer at the cost of your fardh prayers is not at all recommended. It is through these fardh we come closer to Allah. Try to pray your fardh Salahs on time and then add voluntary prayers to it.

And the most beloved things with which My slave comes nearer to Me, is what I have enjoined (obligatory) upon him; and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing nawafil (praying or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) till I love him…” Bukhaari

5. Dua, dua and more dua

Dua is the strongest weapon the believer. Dua is the conversation between Allah and His servants. Especially in this month make dua for anyone and everyone you can remember. Allah loves answering the duas of His servants, pour your heart and soul into your duas. Refrain from asking anything that is forbidden. Have a list ready of all the duas you want to make just so that you don’t forget.

“There is nothing more dear to Allah Ta’ala than a servant making dua to Him.”

Tirmidhi

4. Dhikr

Remembrance of Allah, its not just the movement of your tongue but also should be felt deep in your heart. This is one of the easiest and most rewarding and most powerful acts of worship. Unlike salah dhikr has no set time, this can be done while doing your daily chores, while cooking or driving to and back from work, it is as easy as saying Subhanallahi wa bihamdihi or Astaghfirullah.

Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest

(Quran 13:28)

3. Give Sadqa and Zakah

It is not obligatory to pay Zakah in this month itself but since every good deed has multiple rewards make it your priority to give it in this month. Ramadan is the month of generosity, give Sadqah as much as you can.

Sadqah wipes out sins like water extinguishes fire. Tirmidhi

2. Ask for Forgiveness

We should be grateful to Allah for giving us yet another chance to ask for forgiveness for uncountable sins. Don’t let these precious days go by, ask for forgiveness:

Rabbighfir Warh’am Wa Anta Khayrur Raah’imeen My Lord! Forgive and have mercy, for You are the Best of those who show mercy! Surah Al-Mu’minoon – 23:118

Seek forgiveness of your Lord and repent to Him. (11:3)

1. Pray Tahajjud

Tahajjud or night prayer is the most important of the voluntary prayers. Dua made at tahajjud is like an arrow that does not miss its target- Imam Shafaee. Make it a habit to pray it without neglect in these 10 days, you never know this habit could stick and you continue to pray tahajjud even after Ramadan as well.

Prophet Muhammad said: ‘The best prayer after the obligatory prayer is prayer at night(Tahajjud)’ Muslim
